Xavi out of Spain game

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has been ruled out of Spain's friendly international against Uruguay on Wednesday with a hamstring injury.

The 33-year-old picked up the injury on his right leg during Barcelona's away game against Valencia in La Liga on Sunday that ended in a 1-1 draw.

Xavi was subsequently examined by a Spain team doctor and has now been omitted from the European and world champions' squad.

Fellow midfielder Xabi Alonso had already pulled himself out of the team after picking up a groin injury during Real Madrid's 1-0 defeat to Granada on Saturday.
