Spain urge Del Bosque to stay on as boss

RFEF president Angel Maria Villar has urged Vicente del Bosque to sign a new contract as Spain boss.

The experienced manager is widely expected to step down from national-team duty following Euro 2016 this summer.

However, Villar has made it clear that he wants the 65-year-old to pen an extension and lead the team into the 2018 World Cup.

"Del Bosque has been clear and for the good of football I want him to continue," Marca quotes Villar as telling reporters.

Del Bosque took charge of Spain in 2008 and led his nation to the 2010 World Cup and European Championship title in 2012.
