Southampton target Yakubu, Jake Livermore

Southampton boss Nigel Adkins will target Blackburn Rovers striker Yakubu and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jake Livermore this summer, according to reports.

Adkins, who has led the Saints to automatic promotion this season, will have £10m to spend on new signings as the club prepare for life in the Premier League, according to Goal.com.

The Championship outfit are also understood to be interested in West Bromwich Albion striker Simon Cox and Blackpool midfielder Matt Phillips, while Adkins is also keen on adding reinforcements in the centre of defence.

Meanwhile, the Saints are expected to face competition for Yakubu from promotion rivals Reading.
