Southampton are understood to be preparing a £3.5m bid for Blackburn Rovers defender Scott Dann.
The 25-year-old has suffered relegation in the last two seasons with Rovers and Birmingham City respectively.
Saints boss Nigel Adkins is now hopeful that a deal can be struck in the next week, according to The Mirror.
Dann, who made 28 appearances last season, moved to Blackburn from Birmingham for £6m.
