Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana has tipped Rickie Lambert to make England's World Cup squad should the Three Lions achieve qualification.
Lambert made a scoring start to life with the national team when he grabbed the winner with his first touch in the recent 3-2 defeat of Scotland at Wembley.
West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce recently claimed that the selection could be between Andy Carroll and Lambert, and Lallana is in no doubt who he would choose for the tournament in Brazil.
"I heard Sam Allardyce say in an interview that it's either him or Carroll - if that's the case I know who I'd be taking," Lallana told Goal.com.
"I've played with Rickie for four years and he is so, so good. He offers so many different aspects. I'm so grateful he had his chance, he took it, and now everyone has seen what he's capable of.
"It's so nice to see a team-mate of mine for the past four years work so hard, do so well, and get rewarded with that. We've got a lot of young English players in our squad so he's a role model that everyone looks up to and he's proven that if you do work hard and do well you get your chance."
