South Korea vs. Cameroon - prediction, team news, lineups

Asian giants South Korea entertain the challenge of African side Cameroon in an international friendly affair at the Sangam Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

In the teams' final involvement before the World Cup, both will be keen to wrap up their preparations for November's global event on a high.

Match preview

South Korea played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against Los Ticos of Costa Rica when the teams went head-to-head at the Goyang Stadium on Friday.

Paulo Bento's men opened the scoring through Hwang Hee-chan, but a double from Jewison Bennette turned the game on its head only for Son Heung-min to restore parity in the 85th minute.

The Tigers of Asia are now unbeaten in six of their seven warm-up fixtures since the turn of the year with the only defeat in that time being a comprehensive 5-1 loss to Brazil back in June.

Up next is a first ever-meeting against an opposing outfit who are 10 places below in the latest national-team ranking done by world football's governing body FIFA.

Currently on a run of just one home defeat in over four years, Tuesday's hosts will heavily fancy themselves to come away with another positive result in front of their fans.

Cameroon were left red-faced on Friday following a disappointing 2-0 defeat against the White Wolves of Uzbekistan at the Goyang Stadium.

Rigobert Song's men went behind to Khojimat Erkinov's opener in the 24th minute after which Oston Urunov put the tie to bed half an hour into the second period.

Consequently, the Indomitable Lions have now been beaten in three of their six outings post-AFCON where they managed a third-place finish back in February.

Off the back of consecutive defeats on the road for the first time in 18 months, Tuesday's visitors will be keen to get themselves back on track away from home.

Team News

Son Heung-min's equaliser against Costa Rica was his 34th international goal, meaning that only three players have now scored more times for South Korea than the Tottenham Hotspur man.

Son also picked up his 103rd cap in the aforementioned game, and his next international outing would see him break into the top 10 of his nation's all-time appearance charts.

After successfully switching his international allegiance from France, Bryan Mbeumo made his Cameroon debut last time out, and the 23-year-old is expected to feature in this one.

Midfielder Olivier Ntcham was also given his first run-out in a Cameroon shirt against Uzbekistan having also recently called it quits on his time with France.

South Korea possible starting lineup:

Kim; Kim, Kim, Kim, Yoon; Kwon, Jeong, Hwang; Son, Hwang, Hwang

Cameroon possible starting lineup:

Onana; Ebosse, N'Koulou, Castelletto; Fai, Mandjeck, Ntcham, Tolo; Mbeumo, Aboubakar, Ngamaleu

We say: South Korea 2-1 Cameroon

Playing in front of their fans for the final time before the World Cup takes centre-stage, South Korea will be aiming to put on a show for their supporters and we are backing them to narrowly come out on top at the end of the 90 minutes here.
