League Two roundup: Shrewsbury Town move top

Shrewsbury move top of League Two on goal difference after Bobby Grant's late winner downs Accrington Stanley.

Shrewsbury Town have moved top of League Two tonight after beating Accrington Stanley 2-1 at the Crown Ground to leapfrog Burton Albion.

The hosts looked on course to earn a hard-fought point against promotion-chasing Salop after Josh Windass's penalty on 38 minutes cancelled out Bobby Grant's opener.

However, Grant struck again on 87 minutes to snatch the points as Micky Mellon's side moved to the summit.

Wycombe Wanderers also boosted their chances of automatic promotion into League One after beating Tranmere Rovers 2-1 with 10 men at Prenton Park.

First-half goals from Fred Onyedinma and Paul Hayes, either side of Adam Dugdale's brief equaliser, helped the visitors into a slender half-time lead.

However, Matt McClure jeopardised the victory after being sent off for violent conduct on 70 minutes, but Tranmere failed to make the most of their numerical advantage as Wanderers held on to stay third.

Elsewhere, Bury managed a fourth consecutive win as David Flitcroft's side beat playoff rivals Luton Town 1-0 at Gigg Lane.

Tom Soares struck the only goal of the game on eight minutes as Bury moved level on points with the Hatters in fourth.

Meanwhile, Stevenage did their playoff prospects no harm by beating Plymouth Argyle 1-0 at Broadhall Way in a late victory that saw the visitors miss the chance to move seventh.

Bruno Andrade pounced with an 89th-minute winner as the hosts moved level on points with eighth-placed Argyle.

Toward the bottom, relegation-threatened Carlisle United ended a four-game losing streak to beat Cheltenham Town 1-0 at Brunton Park.

Charlie Wyke's strike on the half-hour mark was enough to stop the rot as United move 21st, two places and two points above the drop zone.

Hartlepool United stay rooted to the bottom after losing 2-0 to Dagenham & Redbridge at Victoria Road.

Scott Harrison's own goal helped the hosts into a 1-0 half-time lead, before Billy Bingham sealed the win on 66 minutes to lift the Daggers six points clear of danger and leave Hartlepool seven points off the pace.
