Joe Hart: 'Shrewsbury fans will help team'

Former Shrewsbury Town goalkeeper Joe Hart has stated that the club's supporters will play a key role in helping the side to avoid relegation from League One.

Micky Mellon's outfit currently sit outside the relegation zone on goal difference following the 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

Manchester City and England stopper Hart, who began his career at Shrewsbury, is confident that his hometown club can avoid the drop.

"It's always difficult for me to get to see Shrewsbury play but I always see what I can," he told the Shropshire Star.

"They are a good side and I'm sure they will find a way to stay up. Shrewsbury have got great support, so that gives them a really good chance."

Hart played 58 times for Shrewsbury between 2004 and 2006 before signing for Man City.
