Sheffield Wednesday to make Mark Cooper head coach?

Cooper set for Sheff Weds role?

Sheffield Wednesday could reportedly offer Swindon Town manager Mark Cooper the opportunity to become their new head coach.

The Owls are looking for a new boss after dismissing Stuart Gray last week. Reports last week suggested that the 46-year-old would move to Hillsborough as assistant to Carlos Carvalhal.

However, Cooper is said to have rejected that opportunity because he is keen to manage in the Championship, having guided Swindon to last season's League One playoff final on limited resources.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Owls hierarchy have drawn up an alternative coaching structure, which would see Cooper become head coach and Carvalhal serving in a director of football role above him.

Cooper, who has been in charge of Swindon for the past two seasons, has one year remaining on his contract at the County Ground.
