Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Liam Palmer expected to miss rest of season

Sheffield Wednesday confirm that midfielder Liam Palmer is likely to be sidelined for the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Liam Palmer is expected to miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old was stretchered off during his side's 1-1 draw with Fulham on Saturday.

Scans have revealed that Palmer does not need surgery, but he is likely to be sidelined until at least the summer.

"Liam saw a specialist in London and it's good news in that he doesn't need surgery, but he will probably miss the rest of the season and that's a blow for the boy," manager Stuart Gray told the club's official website.

The Owls are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Rotherham United in the Championship.
