Half-Time Report: Chris Maguire earns advantage for Sheffield Wednesday

Chris Maguire's early goal has given Sheffield Wednesday a 1-0 lead over Macclesfield Town at half time in the FA Cup third-round replay.

The hosts broke the deadlock in just the third minute when a mistake from Andy Halls gifted an opportunity to Maguire, who drilled the ball into the bottom corner to punish the error.

Wednesday continued to dominate after taking the lead and Maguire was inches away from a second goal when his long-range effort drifted just wide of the target.

The forward was frustrated once more before half time when Steve Williams reacted impressively to clear a shot off the line.

Jack Mackreth had a good chance to level the scores after breaking free of the home defence but his low shot was well saved by Damian Martinez.
