Report: Crystal Palace club captain Paddy McCarthy to join Sheffield United

League One outfit Sheffield United have enquired to Crystal Palace about signing Eagles club captain Paddy McCarthy on loan, according to reports.

The 31-year-old defender is said to be looking for game-time away from Selhurst Park and has been the subject of enquiries from Championship clubs too.

According to the Croydon Advertiser, Eagles manager Neil Warnock, who has also managed the Blades, could be key in a deal happening for the Irish centre-back.

McCarthy recently signed a new contract at Palace.
