Separated by just one point in the top half of the Championship table, Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers will do battle at Bramall Lane on Sunday.

The hosts moved onto 10 points with a midweek victory, while their visitors were last in action last weekend and are a point worse off after a game fewer.

Sheffield United return to Bramall Lane on Sunday in search of consecutive Championship victories, having bounced back from a setback in midweek.

Aiming to improve on a disappointing 2025-26 season which ended in a 13th-placed finish and challenge back at the top end of the division this term, the Blades sit on 10 points from their first six outings, having won two and lost one of those after three consecutive draws to start the campaign.

They came alongside two EFL Cup wins, before Chris Wilder's men suffered a first defeat at home to Norwich City last weekend, levelling in the 23rd minute through Patrick Bamford before Mohamed Toure put the visitors back ahead on the stroke of half time and Mathias Kvistgaarden made it 3-1 on the hour mark.

Then aiming to quickly bounce back on Tuesday, they travelled to take on Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park, the site on an EFL Cup triumph in August, and again came out on top despite falling behind to a Kristi Montgomery goal, as Tom Cannon equalised before Sydie Peck scored the decisive goal in the 44th minute.

Arguably yet to hit their stride so far this term, but having lost just once in eight competitive matches, Sheffield United will now bid to kick on with a second straight win and crash the top eight.

Their visitors, meanwhile, head into the sixth game of their return to the Championship after Premier League relegation on the back of a mixed start to the campaign.

The club hierarchy opted to replace Rob Edwards with new manager Cesar Peixoto over the summer, and his tenure begun with a draw and a pair of league wins over Preston North End and Stoke City either side of an EFL Cup triumph over Sheffield Wednesday, scoring nine goals across those three games.

The Midlands outfit have failed to continue that run since, though, going on to suffer a first defeat in a trip to West Ham United, having twice fallen two goals behind with Marshall Munetsi's finish and a Konstantinos Mavropanos own goal not enough to force a result away at their fellow promotion-chasers.

A derby away at Birmingham City then followed last time out, and Peixoto's men twice went ahead in the first half through Fer Lopez and Ladislav Krejci, but a Jay Stansfield goal and a Jackson Tchatchoua own goal forced them to share the points in a 2-2 draw.

Now sat on eight points from five matches, having already scored 13 goals and conceded 10, Wolves will bid to get back on track with an away victory while hoping to tighten their defensive record having not yet managed a league clean sheet.

Sheffield United are set to remain without defenders Harrison Burrows and Femi Seriki, midfielder Tahith Chong and attacker Ryan One, all of whom have been sidelined by injuries in recent weeks.

Cannon should keep his place in attack, having marked his return to the starting XI with a goal in midweek, while Patrick Bamford, who has managed two Championship goals this term after hitting 12 in 28 matches last time around, will also hope to come back in from the outset.

Joe Rothwell, Kalvin Phillips, Oliver Arblaster and Jairo Riedewald will all compete for midfield spots, with key man Peck likely to continue after a goal and an assist against Blackburn, while deadline day arrival Liam Kitching will again join Japhet Tanganga at the back, with Wilder having switched to a back three on Tuesday.

Wolves' new attacker Rafiki Said is yet to feature this season through injury, while Kieran Trippier, Yerson Mosquera and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde are all sidelined.

Fer Lopez has shone in attack in the early stages of the season, managing three goals and two assists in five league matches, while strikers Adam Armstrong and Raul Jimenez both started in last week's trip to Birmingham.

Summer loan arrival Jordan James will compete for a first league start in an advanced midfield role, having only featured off the bench in the Championship so far this term, while 18-year-old Mateus Mane will also fight for an attacking spot from the outset.
