Live Commentary: Sevilla 3-3 Real Madrid - as it happened

Real Madrid came from two goals down to draw 3-3 at Sevilla in the Copa del Rey and extended their unbeaten run to 40 matches.

A first-half own-goal from Danilo and second-half strikes from Stevan Jovetic and Vicente Iborra had put Sevilla into a 3-1 lead with 13 minutes left.

However, a Sergio Ramos penalty and a 93rd-minute Karim Benzema effort ensured that Real won the tie 6-3 on aggregate.

9.07pmBENCH WATCH Well, we've already seen Jovetic come on for the hosts. If Los Rojiblancos are still looking for goals, it may be down to the likes of Samir Nasri and Vitolo in the dying stages. Of course, Real could turn to Karim Benzema as the game goes on.

9.05pmSTATS: Sevilla have shaded possession in the opening 45 minutes (52%), but that number was in the low-to-mid 60s earlier, which suggests that Real have managed to get more of a foot on the ball. Madrid had seven shots at goal to the hosts' six, but only hit the target once. Almost all of the saves were made by Kiko Casilla in that half.

9.02pmWell, I think the home side have been full value for that lead. They have fashioned more clear cut chances and Casilla has been far busier that either he or Zidane would like. It seems like Jorge Sampaoli really hadn't given up on this tie.

42 minAsensio is found offside. He's not happy and runs in the direction of the referee. He looks to be onside and that's a fair few that the linesmancould have let go.

40 minThe hosts are happy to be patient in their build-up play. The have almost exclusively owned the ball for the last two minutes before Vietto's shot drift well wide.

38 minJovetic goes out the warm up on the touchline. He could be called upon in the latter stages if Sevilla need late goals.

24 minCLOSE! Moments later and Real are almost level in strange circumstances. Soria takes a swing at a clearance with Diaz Mejia closing down. The youngster blocks his kick and the deflection is inches away from nestling in the net.

23 minAnother great chance for Sevilla is missed. Ben Yedder is flagged offside with teammates in support. He was only millimetres offside, it at all!

20 minBen Yedder wastes a great attacking opportunity. He has Vietto in support only for the former Toulouse to deliver a stinker of a pass. Sevilla have had about 60% of possession so far. They are definitely showing their intent early on.

17 minReplays of the goal show just how bad an own goal Danilo managed to score. The best strikers in Europe would've been happy with that heading technique.

15 minVazquez again in the action as Soria punches a Kroos free kick into his path on the edge of the box. His effort was less of a shot and more a rugby union conversion.

4 minReal's first meaningful spell in posession. Asensio brings the ball out of defence. Eventually, the visitors squander the ball and Sevilla will go again.

3 minHowls from the locals as the urge Casilla to get on with a free kick. What would an early do for their optimism?

1 minSHOT! Already gasps at the Sanchez Pizjuan as Escudero thumps one goalwards from the left side of the box. Casilla punches firmly and he had to!

8.12pmWell, Sevilla fans are certainly hopeful of a dramatic comeback. There a very few empty seats in the stadium tonight.

8.09pmPREDICTION: With kickoff nearing at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, it is time for a prediction and who am I to bet against a side unbeaten in 39 games. I'm not sure they will win tonight as Sevilla have been largely formidable at home. I'll pluck for an exciting 2-2 draw, although I can't say whether that prediction is in hope or expectation.

8.07pmZidane's side are also hoping to avoid a rare Copa del Rey tie against the Andalusians. They have not lost a cup tie against them for 51 years.

8.05pmHowever, despite Real shuffling the pack somewhat, they are out to preserve and extend a 39-game unbeaten record against Sevilla. Their record against Los Rojiblancos would suggest that they can extend that record. Madrid have won 96 of the 179 previous clashes between the teams, the Sevillistas have registered 54 victories in that time.

7.56pmTonight's game is also a chance for Real youngster Mariano Diaz Mejia to put his name up the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu, the 23-year-old will make his seventh senior appearance for the club and has scored four goals in three Copa del Rey outings for Los Blancos.

7.53pmUPDATE: Two other ties have taken place this evening. Celta Vigo have completed a comfortable aggregate victory over Valencia. They beat Los Che 2-1 in Galicia. Eibar, who were three up on Osasuna from the first-leg, have played out a goalless draw against the Basques. Apparently, neither side could manage a shot at goal in the first half of that encounter.

7.49pmSevilla give a debut to January signing Clement Lenglet. The French defender is only 21, but caught the eye of the Andalusians for his performances for Nancy in Ligue 1. He will play alongside fellow countryman Adil Rami this evening. Their other recent signing, Stevan Jovetic is one the bench.

7.43pmSimilarly, Zidane is adamant that his team are focused for tonight's clash, despite the hefty advantage. "The idea is that everyone is important. Although we have won 3-0 in the first-leg, we're always going to use our heads and respect everyone," he told reporters this week. "From here to the end of the season, we'll have difficult matches - this is one of them and we'll always have to fight."

7.38pmAs mentioned, Sampaoli is certainly talking the talk when it comes to plotting a comeback in this tie. However, the 56-year-old coach admits that the odds are stacked in favour of Real. He told the club's official website: "Hopefully we can give people what they want to see, but I will not make promises that cannot be met. "I hope we have a very good night to achieve a result against an opponent which is one of the best in the world today."

Although Sampaoli has suggested that his team are not giving up on this tie, I wonder if the Chilean is hedging his bets ahead of the La Liga encounter on Sunday. Los Rojiblancos still have enough to worry the visitors. Vietto and one-time Sunderland forward Wissam Ben Yedder will provide the attacking threat.

He was expected to miss out altogether. Of course, messers Bale, Ronaldo and Modric are sidelined, while James is absent with a calf problem. Toni Kroos is also starting in the centre of midfield. I would have expected Kovacic to play from the beginning, but he is on the bench.
