Clarke names Scotland squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers

Steve Clarke has named a 23-player squad for the first two fixtures of the qualifying campaign for Euro 2024.

Having missed out on a place at the 2022 World Cup, Clarke has had an extended period of time to contemplate the make-up of his team for the fixtures with Cyprus and Spain.

The most notable inclusion is that of Norwich City goalkeeper Angus Gunn, who has switched allegiances from England to put himself in line to make his debut.

Zander Clark and Liam Kelly - of Hearts and Motherwell respectively - will compete with Gunn at a time when Craig Gordon is a long-term absentee.

Meanwhile, Nathan Patterson, Aaron Hickey and Callum McGregor all return to the squad after their respective spells on the sidelines before the end of the year.

Lyndon Dykes is able to take his spot in the group having recently come back into contention at Queens Park Rangers after injury.

The opening fixture versus Cyprus is scheduled to take place on March 25, with the showdown with Spain three days later also being staged at Hampden Park.

Norway and Georgia are also present in the group, with the two top nations earning a spot at the next major tournament in 2024.
