Steven Naismith supports the players that opt to represent Team GB at the London Olympic Games.

Glasgow Rangers striker Steven Naismith has defended the players that will be representing Team GB at the Olympic Games in London next year.

The Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish Football Associations are against the four home nations contributing to the squad, as they believe that it could harm their standing with FIFA.

However, the Scotland international understands why players would want to play for Team GB, although he is not expecting to receive a call-up.

"The SFA have their thoughts and that's full credit to them," said the 25-year-old.

"I fully don't expect to be involved but if you're a younger player and totally selfishly looking at football and no other agenda, it's another chance to show the world how good you are.

"Playing in a team with some of the best players in Britain and against some of the best players in the world, as a footballer you would be crazy not to think about it."

Naismith is currently recovering from a knee injury that has ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
