Gordon Strachan: 'We have got a good chance of qualifying'

Strachan: 'We've got a good chance of qualifying'

Scotland boss Gordon Strachan feels that his side are in with a "good chance" of qualifying for Euro 2016 following their 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland.

Martin O'Neill's side took the lead at the Aviva Stadium as Jonathan Walters poked home from close range despite strong claims of offside from the Scots.

However, Strachan's side battled back after the break and drew level when John O'Shea put the ball into his own net, and neither side was able to add to the scoreline as both teams earned a point apiece.

"We are still in with a good chance of qualifying," Strachan told Sky Sports News. "And after the amount of games we have played, to have a good chance is terrific from the lads.

"After our first-half performance, which could have been better, we were decent in the second half. I was happy in the second half when the game died down and we had some good possession and frustrated them. The goal right after half-time gave us a huge boost."

Scotland are third in Group D in their qualifying campaign, two points behind second-placed Germany.
