Darren Fletcher upbeat despite Scotland defeat

Fletcher upbeat despite Scotland defeat

Scotland captain Darren Fletcher has insisted that the team is still good enough to qualify for the European Championship, despite their defeat to Germany.

The Scots almost came away from Dortmund with a point on Sunday night, but they were eventually beaten 2-1 by the world champions in their first match of the campaign.

Despite being on the end of a negative result yesterday evening, Fletcher is confident that Scotland will recover and book their place in the finals.

"We went there and showed we can compete and if we take that performance into other games then I am sure we will be fine," the midfielder is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"We can't be disheartened. We knew that would be the most difficult game in the group so let's try to get some points on the board going forward."

Scotland play their first home qualifier on October 11 when they entertain Georgia.
