Preview: Rotherham United vs. Sheffield Wednesday

Sports Mole looks at the key talking points ahead of Saturday's Championship meeting between Rotherham United and Sheffield Wednesday.

Rotherham United can take another step towards avoiding relegation with a victory over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon.

Largely due to the form of the sides below them, Rotherham find themselves six points clear of the bottom three, and Steve Evans will be keen to pile the pressure on their rivals over the next few weeks.

Results at home are sure to be crucial in the closing stages of the season, and facing a Wednesday side currently sitting in mid-table represents a good opportunity to pick up a valuable win.

Evans must rally the troops after a disappointing few days which saw Rotherham make it two losses in a week with a 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

It was a similar story for Wednesday in midweek as Stuart Gray's side slipped to a 3-0 loss to playoff hopefuls Wolverhampton Wanderers - a defeat which pushed the Owls back into the bottom half of the table.

Keeping the players motivated can be tough late in the campaign, but with investment from the new owners expected in the summer, Gray will be aiming to prove that some of the squad are strong enough for a possible promotion push next season.

An injury to Jack Hunt in midweek means that Rotherham are likely to be forced into at least one change, with Frazer Richardson set to be handed a start in defence.

Doubts remain over the fitness of Wednesday duo Will Keane and Liam Palmer, but Stevie May could keep his place in attack.

Rotherham:

Recent form: LWLWLL

Possible starting lineup: Collin; Richardson, Broadfoot, Rawson, Lafferty; Arnason, Smallwood, Frecklington, Pringle; Sammon, Derbyshire.

Sheffield Wednesday:

Recent form: WWLWDL

Possible starting lineup: Westwood, Vermijl, Lees, Dielna, Helan, Maguire, McGugan, Hutchinson, Lee, Nuhiu, May

Sports Mole says: 1-2
