Preview: Roma vs. Parma

Sports Mole previews this Sunday's Serie A match between Roma and Parma as the former try to stay in the hunt for title glory.

Roma can keep pressure on Serie A leaders Juventus by snatching all three points against Parma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

Rudi Garcia's side are seven points adrift of their title rivals after 22 games and they have been in fine form where the league is concerned.

The team have not been beaten in their last 12 fixtures in the top flight, but a recent four-game run of draws have hampered their charge to the top.

Last weekend, a 2-1 triumph over Cagliari got Roma back to winning ways and a consecutive victory could be on the cards on Sunday due to Parma languishing at the bottom of the table.

Roberto Donadoni's side have acquired just three victories in the league so far this season and are currently on a five-game losing run.

Twenty-two goals have been scored in the Serie A by Parma in this campaign so far, and they have had 47 shipped past them, which could give Roma the opportunity to add to their 36-goal tally having scored eight in their last seven league fixtures.

Earlier in the season, when the two sides met on Parma's home turf, the hosts were able to get on the scoresheet with Paulo de Ceglie, but goals from Adem Ljajic and Miralem Pjanic were enough to give Roma victory.

Speaking of Pjanic, reports emerged overnight claiming that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers flew out to Italy to hold talks this week about possibly signing the 24-year-old in the summer.

Despite this, Pjanic is expected to start, while Gervinho, Ljajic and Francesco Totti will provide an attacking threat for the home side.

The visitors are likely to have a 4-3-3 formation, with Sylvestre Varela, Raffaele Palladino and Cristian Rodriguez leading the way up front.
