Francesco Totti disappointed by Juventus' treatment of Alessandro del Piero

Francesco Totti says that Alessandro del Piero's move to Australian side Sydney FC surprised him.

Roma attacker Francesco Totti has expressed his disappointment that the former Juventus forward Alessandro del Piero departed Serie A.

Totti, who has represented the Giallorossi since 1992, has never played for another club, and the 36-year-old thought that Del Piero would end his career at Juve.

However, the former Italian international moved to the Australian side Sydney FC in the summer of 2012, a decision which surprised Totti.

"It was a personal choice to go play in Australia, but he was a symbol of Juventus," Totti told reporters.

"He was not treated like I have been treated with Roma and I'm so sorry about that.

"But, as far as I'm concerned, I am overjoyed that I have remained in a single shirt."

Totti signed a two-year contract extension with Roma yesterday.
