Feyenoord, Roma to square off in Europa League playoff round

Roma have been handed a two-legged tie with Feyenoord in the Europa League playoff round.

With the teams who topped the eight groups going straight through to the last 16, the second-placed teams were joined by the third-placed teams from the Champions League groups in Monday's draw.

The pick of the ties was the first one out, Feyenoord being presented with a chance to gain revenge against Roma after the Italian giants defeated them in the 2021-22 Europa Conference League final.

AC Milan, who edged out Newcastle United to drop down into the Europa League, have been presented with an eye-catching showdown with French side Rennes.

Marseille and Lens - two of the other French teams in the draw - will square off against Shakhtar Donetsk and Freiburg respectively.

Of the other four ties, three of them include Portuguese clubs, with Benfica being presented with a meeting with another French side in Toulouse.

Sporting Lisbon will meet Young Boys, with the first leg being played in Switzerland, while Braga have been presented with a clash against Azerbaijani outfit Qarabag FK.

The remaining games sees Galatasaray play Sparta Prague after they missed out on a Champions League last-16 spot through losing to Copenhagen on matchday six.

February 15 will be the date for the first legs, with the reverse fixtures taking place a week later.
