Alex Pearce hopes for Republic of Ireland call

Pearce hopes for Rep. Ireland call

Reading defender Alex Pearce has expressed his fear that he has been forgotten about by the Republic of Ireland setup.

The 24-year-old scored during his international debut against Oman in September 2012, but he has not featured for the team since.

Pearce has admitted that he does not know why he has not earned more international caps.

"I have no idea why I haven't been involved, all I know is that I haven't been involved with Ireland for the last four or five squads," Pearce told the Herald.

"But I do want to get back in there with Ireland again, my only way to do that is to impress when I play for my club and hope that the new manager will be watching and will take note.

"I'd love to represent my country again and even be involved in the squad, that's what every player dreams of. All I can do for now is focus on doing well for my club and hopefully from that, the Ireland call will come."

Pearce was last called up to the Ireland squad for the friendly against Poland in March.
