Quinn: 'Ireland have to take initiative'

Niall Quinn has called on the Republic of Ireland to dominate Bosnia-Herzegovina in the second leg of their playoff match and secure their place at Euro 2016.

Martin O'Neill's men earned a 1-1 draw in the first leg in their away tie as Robbie Brady fired them ahead in the 82nd minute, but Edin Dzeko's strike prevented the Irish from sealing the victory.

However, Quinn is confident that Ireland will be able to up the quality of their game and put Bosnia-Herzegovina on the back foot to win the match at the Aviva Stadium.

He told Sky Sports News: "Bosnia have to improve a hell of a lot to overcome Ireland in the Aviva on Monday night. Ireland have a natural way of playing. They showed a different way of playing against Germany, I don't think it'll be that kind of night, I think it'll be different.

"I think they'll be a little bit more confident, I expect Brady and others who have this good feeling to just carry on business as usual, feeling that positivity that is in the camp.

"There is nothing to fear, they have to show serious respect and do their jobs and not be sloppy but there is an opportunity to play better football, to take the game to this lot and to own the game. They can do that."

Ireland face Bosnia-Herzegovina in the second leg on Monday.
