Robbie Keane urges Republic of Ireland to learn from Scotland ahead of Georgia

Keane rallies Irish to learn from Scots

Robbie Keane has demanded that the Republic of Ireland learn from Scotland's mistakes by beating Georgia and strengthening their hopes of reaching Euro 2016.

The Irish host Kakhaber Tskhadadze's side in Dublin tonight knowing that victory could potentially see them open up a four-point gap between them and the fourth-placed Scots in Group D, with Gordon Strachan and co hosting leaders Germany.

Strachan's men lost 1-0 in Tbilisi on Friday in a result that restored Ireland's hopes of finishing third and securing a playoff spot to qualify for the finals next summer.

"The Georgia result went for us on Friday but it's up to us to make sure we get a big result against them," captain Keane is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"I said at the start of the campaign that Georgia would be a difficult place to go and get a result.

"So for us to get a big result there in the last minute was a big result and now we're all looking forward to this massive game."

The Boys in Green, who sit third by a point, thrashed Gibraltar 4-0 on Friday.
