Le Toux snatches late Union draw

Sebastien Le Toux's stoppage-time penalty earned Philadelphia Union a 2-2 draw against New York Red Bulls at a stormy PPL park this evening.

The visitors hit the front when they were awarded a penalty on 36 minutes, after Peguy Luyindula drew a foul from Ethan White, and the Congolese forward duly stepped up to dispatch the subsequent spot kick.

New York doubled their advantage with the break approaching as Chris Duvall played in Thierry Henry. and the former Arsenal striker calmly beat Zac MacMath.

However, Union were able to pull a goal back within seconds when Pedro Ribeiro capitalised on slow reactions in the Red Bulls defence to poke the ball beyond Luis Robles.

It looked as if the away side would leave with victory, but their hopes were dashed when Ribeiro was brought down in the area by Ibrahim Sekagya.

Le Toux, on as a second-half substitute, secured Philadelphia a point as he tucked the penalty past Robles.

The result leaves New York seven points adrift of DC United at the top of the Eastern Conference.
