Sergio Canales joins Real Sociedad

Real Sociedad have announced that Sergio Canales has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with the club.

The 22-year-old joins the team from Valencia for a fee thought to be in the region of €4.5m (£3.7m).

A statement on the club's website said: "Real Sociedad have reached an agreement with Valencia and with Sergio Canales for the signing of the young Cantabrian midfielder until June 30 2018.

"Sergio Canales has already passed his medical prior to signing and will be officially presented next Monday."

Canales has struggled with injuries since making a permanent move to Valencia in 2012, starting 13 games in all competitions for the club this season.
