Report: Cristiano Ronaldo close to signing new Real Madrid deal

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly agreed a new three-year extension to his Real Madrid contract.

It had been suggested that Gareth Bale's arrival at the Bernabeu had unsettled the Portuguese, with former club Manchester United keen to bring him back to the Premier League.

However, according to AS, Ronaldo has agreed terms on a three-year extension until 2018, which would make him the highest-paid player in world football.

It is understood that official confirmation from Real Madrid could be made by September 22.
