Report: Ramos axe would cost £26.1m

Real Madrid will have to pay long-serving defender Sergio Ramos £26.1m to buy him out of his current contract, according to a report.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez allegedly threatened to sack the Spain international during a heated exchange after Real's 4-1 loss to Ajax in midweek - a match for which the centre-back got himself deliberately suspended.

Ramos is said to have responded that he would walk away from the Bernabeu this summer, but only if he was given a full pay-off.

Spanish outlet AS claims that, if Perez is true to his word, he will have to hand over €25 (£26m), which would cover the final two years of the 32-year-old's deal - not one year, as has previously been reported.

Real are said to have only secretly offered Ramos his latest deal just a few months ago, tying the one-time Manchester United target down until 2021.

However, a separate report suggests that Perez has already reached out to Ramos in an attempt to hold clear-the-air talks.
