Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Newcastle United's 24-year-old midfielder Bruno Guimaraes ahead of a potential transfer in the future, according to a report.

Real Madrid have been keeping tabs on Newcastle United's 24-year-old midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to a report.

The Brazilian only moved to St James' Park from Lyon in the January transfer window, with the Magpies paying the Ligue 1 outfit around £38m for his signature.

After having to wait to make his debut for Newcastle for several weeks, and following initial substitute appearances, Guimaraes has settled in quickly in the Premier League, having already netted three goals and registered one assist in just six league starts.

That kind of form has come to the attention of Los Blancos, according to AS, who are reporting that the midfielder could be a future target as they look to refresh their options in the centre of the pitch.

With current midfield options Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro all over the age of 30, Real brought in 19-year-old Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes last summer, and have also been heavily linked with Monaco's 22-year-old Frenchman Aurelien Tchouameni, as the Madrid outfit look for long-term replacements.

Guimaraes is likely to be a tough deal for Real to agree considering his recent arrival to England, with his recently-signed contract not expiring until the summer of 2026.

However, the report does suggest that the La Liga side would only be likely to make a move for the Brazilian after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, which finishes on December 18.
