Real Madrid 'want Pochettino to replace Zidane'

Real Madrid have reportedly identified Mauricio Pochettino as their number one choice to replace Zinedine Zidane as head coach of the club.

Zidane has stood down from his position at the Bernabeu, and the club's search for his successor is very much underway.

Former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has been linked with the role in the Spanish capital, but the Italian appears to be on the verge of returning to Turin.

As a result, Los Blancos have identified Paris Saint-Germain boss Pochettino as their first-choice target, amid uncertainty surrounding the Argentine's future, according to Goal.

The report claims that Antonio Conte, who has now left Inter Milan, and Raul are also being considered, but Pochettino is firmly at the head of the queue.

Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be keen to bring their former manager back to North London.
