Madrid put five past Betis

Real Madrid have beaten Real Betis 5-0 in La Liga this afternoon, with the Spanish giants grabbing goals through five different scorers.

Madrid took the lead after 11 minutes as Cristiano Ronaldo moved unchecked towards the Betis goal, before hammering home a strike into the top corner of the net to put his team 1-0 up.

The Portugese winger was at it again only a few minutes later when he skipped past two challenges to unleash a shot, which flew just wide of goal.

Ronaldo turned provider as he won a free kick just outside of the box, allowing Gareth Bale to bend an unstoppable finish past the stranded keeper in the Betis goal.

Ronaldo continued to shine throughout the half and he almost made it 3-0 after being found by Luka Modric on the counter, but his effort was saved by the Betis keeper Stephan Andersen.

Karim Benzema completed the first-half rout right on the stroke of half time as he collected a square-ball to finish tidily from a few yards out.

Madrid continued their onslaught after half time when Benzema cleverly picked out Ronaldo in the box, who couldn't find a way past the determined Andersen.

Angel di Maria could, however, as he netted Madrid's fourth on his return to the side with a 30-yard drilled effort, which flew into the bottom corner of the Betis goal.

Madrid continued to dominate the pace of the game throughout the second half and they almost found their fifth goal of the afternoon through Marcelo, who let fly with a powerful effort, which swerved a little too wide past the top corner of the goal.

However, it wasn't to matter as Alvaro Morata scored in the final minutes to make it 5-0 with an easy conversion from close range after Ronaldo had a shot saved.
