Real Madrid move into fourth place in La Liga with a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo this evening.

Real Madrid have eased to a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo, moving five points behind Barcelona in La Liga in the process.

The hosts took the lead in the 12th minute when Gonzalo Higuain's attempted cross from out wide looped over Sergio Alvarez in the Celta goal.

Madrid almost doubled their lead a little over 10 minutes later when Cristiano Ronaldo met a cross with his head from close range, but Alvarez did well to palm it away.

Ronaldo came even closer seven minutes before the break as he flicked Luka Modric's effort towards goal, but it hit the top of the crossbar.

The former Manchester United man finally did get his goal 20 minutes into the second half, converting from the spot after Mesut Ozil had been bundled over by Gustavo Cabral.

Madrid were content to see the game out from that point on and move into the top four thanks to the win.
