Casillas vows to regain place

Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has insisted that he is completely focused on regaining a starting place in Jose Mourinho's side.

Casillas was dropped for Madrid's final match before the winter break as the reigning champions went down to a 3-2 defeat at Malaga.

The Spain captain believes that while competition from Antonio Adan is healthy, he feels fit and ready to regain the number one spot.

He told reporters: "I'm training myself to fight, to fight and to recover the position. It is the goal that I have and that the coach selects me in the next game.

"I feel good but I'm not a machine, I have to train every day and there are better and worse times, but I feel fine.

"Above Casillas is Madrid. The decision is the coach's. In any case, the day I no longer have the desire to work, I'll stop."

Madrid are struggling to retain their La Liga title at the halfway stage, trailing league leaders Barcelona by 16 points.
