Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard suffers broken metatarsal

Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard - currently on loan at Heerenveen - is likely to miss the rest of the season with a broken metatarsal.

Heerenveen have revealed that midfielder Martin Odegaard has suffered a broken metatarsal.

The Real Madrid youngster has spent the last 15 months on loan in the Eredivisie, with the 19-year-old having made a total of 37 starts for the Dutch club.

However, it appears that Odegaard will miss the rest of the season after sustaining the injury in Sunday's 2-1 win over Heracles.

The Norwegian could now return to the Bernabeu to undergo his rehabilitation with Real needing to make a decision on the player's future ahead of next season.

Odegaard has made two appearances in all competitions since moving to the Spanish giants in January 2015.
