Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Athletic Bilbao

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash with Athletic Bilbao.

Real Madrid will be looking to make it seven La Liga victories in a row when they continue their 2019-20 campaign away to Athletic Bilbao on Sunday afternoon.

Los Blancos stretched their lead at the top of the table to four points courtesy of a 1-0 win over Getafe on Thursday night and will have the chance to move seven points clear of Barcelona before the reigning champions next take to the field on Sunday night.

Zinedine Zidane's side entered the lockdown period off the back of a 2-1 loss to Real Betis but have overcome Eibar, Valencia, Real Sociedad, Mallorca, Espanyol and Getafe since the restart.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's clash.

Raphael Varane

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Concussion
Possible return date: July 5 (vs. Athletic)

Key central defender Varane had to be replaced in the first half of Thursday's win over Getafe after being hit in the face with the ball. There have been suggestions that the Frenchman suffered a concussion, making him a doubt for this weekend's contest at San Mames.

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: July 5 (vs. Athletic)

Madrid revealed last month that versatile defender Nacho had picked up a thigh injury during a training session. The capital giants did not mention a timeframe when they confirmed the Spaniard's problem, although he is back in training and has an outside chance of featuring this weekend.

Madrid have no suspension issues ahead of Sunday's clash with Athletic.
