How Real Madrid could line up against Elche

How Real Madrid could line up against Elche

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is expected to make a number of changes to his starting XI for Thursday's Copa del Rey contest with Elche.

Marco Asensio has been ruled out of the last-16 affair due to a muscular problem, while Mariano Diaz remains a doubt with a hamstring issue, but Gareth Bale will be back in the squad after recovering from a back injury

Dani Carvajal could be cleared to play following a positive COVID-19 test, but it seems unlikely that the Spain international will be involved even if he is available for selection.

Real Madrid will take on Elche once again in the league this weekend, so there will be a number of changes to their strongest starting XI.

Andriy Lunin, Nacho, Marcelo, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard could all come into the side following Sunday's victory over Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup final.

A number of youngsters, in addition to the likes of Dani Ceballos and Isco, will also hope to be given opportunities to impress for Los Blancos.

David Alaba is expected to feature alongside Nacho in the middle of the defence, though, as Eder Militao's red card in the Spanish Super Cup final means that the Brazilian is suspended for this match.

Real Madrid possible starting lineup: Lunin; Vazquez, Nacho, Alaba, Marcelo; Valverde, Casemiro, Camavinga; Rodrygo, Jovic, Hazard
