Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has revealed his delight after his team recorded a 2-0 win over Roma in the first leg of their last-16 clash in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
A tight opening 45 minutes saw neither side register a shot on target, but second-half goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jese Rodriguez have placed Los Blancos in firm control ahead of the second leg next month.
"We're very pleased with the result. It was a great team effort. It's a big step forward in the tie," Ramos, who picked up a booking in Rome, told reporters.
No team has ever overcome a 2-0 first-leg home deficit in the Champions League.
