Benzema: 'I joined Madrid to win CL'

Karim Benzema has said that he joined Real Madrid with the intention of winning the Champions League.

Los Blancos have not been crowned European champions since 2002, but will get the chance to secure their 10th title next month after overcoming Bayern Munich in the semi-finals last night.

"We won by four goals and we're happy with the result. We defended as a unit and then prepared ourselves well for the counter-attack," he told reporters.

"The third goal was great; me to [Gareth] Bale, Bale to Cristiano [Ronaldo].

"Our final opponent? We don't care. Chelsea and Atletico, it's all the same to us. I signed with Real Madrid to win this title. La Liga and the Champions League and I hope we win them."

Madrid have already picked up the Copa del Rey title this season.
