Real Madrid injury, suspension news vs. Atletico Madrid: Antonio Rudiger, Dani Ceballos latest

Will Rudiger return from minor illness? Real Madrid injury, suspension news vs. Atletico

Real Madrid will look to get the job when they visit local rivals Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Metropolitano on Wednesday.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have a narrow advantage heading into this second leg, after Brahim Diaz netted a late winner at the Bernabeu last week, but Los Blancos could find this tough, having won on just three of their previous 17 visits to Atletico.

A draw would be enough, though, as Real look to reach the quarter-finals of this competition, with their eyes set on a record-extending 16th Champions League crown.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the team's injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Atletico, who have never previously gotten the better of their city rivals in a Champions League tie.

Dani Carvajal

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Carvajal will miss the rest of the 2024-25 campaign due to the awful knee injury he suffered in the clash with Villarreal on October 5.

Eder Militao

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Similarly, Real Madrid will be also be without the services of central defender Militao for the rest of the season after the Brazilian international tore his ACL during the La Liga clash with Osasuna back in November.

Jesus Vallejo

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

Despite hardly getting a look in this season, even though Real Madrid have been without many central defenders, Los Blancos are set to be without Vallejo due to a hamstring injury which has ruled him out of the last four matches.

Dani Ceballos

Status: Out Type of injury: Muscle Possible return date: Unknown

Ceballos had been a useful asset for Ancelotti in recent weeks, playing in some important matches against Manchester City and Atletico, but the midfielder is set for a spell on the sidelines due to the muscular issue that he suffered against Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey.

Antonio Rudiger

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Illness Possible return date: March 12 (vs. Atletico)

After starting the first leg last week, Rudiger was absent from the squad that beat Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, but the German defender has been spotted in training ahead of this clash, and should feature.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Real Madrid have no players suspended for this match, and they will be able to welcome Jude Bellingham back into the squad after he served his one-match European ban in the first leg.
