Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Real Madrid

Chelsea injury, suspension list vs. Real Madrid

Chelsea will head to Bernabeu on Wednesday evening for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final with the holders Real Madrid.

The Blues, who have re-appointed Frank Lampard as interim head coach, knocked Borussia Dortmund out in the last-16 stage of the European Cup.

However, the London giants will enter this game off the back of a four-game winless run, which includes a 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Real Madrid, who lost 3-2 to Villarreal in La Liga last time out.

Armando Broja

Armando Broja suffered a serious knee injury in a friendly towards the end of last year, and the Albania international will not be available until next season.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: April 15 (vs. Brighton & Hove Albion)

Cesar Azpilicueta has not played for Chelsea since suffering a concussion against Southampton in February, while he is also battling a knee problem, so he will again be absent for this match.

Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva has been missing since suffering a knee injury against Tottenham Hotspur at the end of February, but he is expected to return for Chelsea over the next couple of weeks.

Mason Mount

Status: Out Type of injury: Abdomen Possible return date: Unknown

Mason Mount was not involved in Lampard's return match against Wolves after suffering a setback in his recovery from an abdomen injury, and he will now miss out against Real Madrid.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players suspended for this match, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke and David Datro Fofana are not in the team's Champions League squad.
