Agent: 'Royston Drenthe nearing Reading move'

The agent of former Real Madrid midfielder Royston Drenthe has claimed that his client is close to joining Championship outfit Reading.

The 26-year-old, who spent a period on loan at Everton in 2011-2012, is available on a free transfer after leaving Russian outfit FC Alania.

His agent Fabian Veldwijk told NUsport: "The contract has been signed. A few small things have to be arranged before it's official.

"He has a good feeling with the club and wants to play in England."

Drenthe is expected to undergo a medical this week.
