New training ground for Reading

Reading have announced plans to build a new training complex in Wokingham.

The Royals agreed a deal on Friday with the Royal Merchant Navy School Foundation to purchase almost 120 acres of land at Bearwood Estate.

The new complex will host both the first and academy teams, with 15 pitches planned.

A statement from Reading said: "The club would like to thank the Foundation, and in particular Secretary Charles Heron-Watson, for their professionalism and assistance in getting the process to this stage.

"Both parties believe this is a very positive step for the club, the Foundation, our academy and indeed the local community."

Reading have been at their current Hogwood Park training facility since 2004.
