Report: Rangers to block Worrall recall

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard will reportedly block Nottingham Forest's attempt to recall defender Joe Worrall from his Ibrox loan spell.

The 21-year-old has developed into a key player for the Gers since arriving at the end of August on a season-long loan, starting 11 matches in all competitions.

Worrall's recent form for the Scottish Premiership side has led to talk of a January return to the City Ground being a possibility, with Forest boss Aitor Karanka admitting last week that he is in need of defensive cover.

According to The Mirror, however, there is no recall clause in the England Under-21s international's contract and Gerrard will not allow him to return to his parent club midway through the season.

Forest academy product Worrall has previously ruled out a long-term stay in the Scottish capital.
