Rangers confirm Rob Kiernan signing

Rangers confirm that defender Rob Kiernan has joined the club on a two-year deal from Wigan Athletic.

Defender Rob Kiernan has departed Wigan Athletic to sign a two-year contract with Rangers.

The 24-year-old had been linked with the Glasgow giants for a number of days, but he has finally put pen to paper as new boss Mark Warburton looks to strengthen his squad at Ibrox

Warburton told the club's official website: "I'm delighted to get hold of Rob. He's a boy I know very well from Watford, he's passionate about playing football, technically gifted, great range of pass, and he's a good specimen as well.

"But Rob just loves playing football. He played comfortably in the Championship last year and had offers to go back down into the Championship, but when he heard about this here, you could hear immediately his excitement.

"He wants to play football, he wants to get on the ball and impress, he wants to be the best player and that's how Rob is. He's well liked in the dressing room, well liked off the pitch and for me, he'll really add value here at Ibrox."

Kiernan ended the last campaign on loan at Birmingham City, where he made 12 appearances during the final three months of the season.
