Rangers defender David Weir believes that Sunday's Old Firm derby will be "interesting".

Rangers defender David Weir has revealed that he is expecting the first Old Firm derby of the season to be "interesting".

The SPL champions take on Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday, but the 40-year-old doesn't believe that the outcome between the Glasgow rivals will determine the destination of the title.

"I'm not going to say that they don't matter because they do," said Weir. "But you could argue whether they dictate the outcome of the league based on what happened last year.

"Whatever the case you still want to win the game. It will be different, it is going to be interesting. It'll be the players that win the game, not the managers.

"The competition for places is always fierce and I have had that throughout my career."

The Gers are currently top of the SPL table, while Celtic are a point behind in second place.
