Scottish League One roundup: Rangers run riot against East Fife

Rangers hit five against East Fife, while Dunfermline and Stenhousemuir stay in touch with wins.

Rangers continued their perfect start to their Scottish League One season by beating East Fife 5-0 at Ibrox on Saturday.

A hat-trick from former Wigan Athletic player Lee McCulloch led the way for Ally McCoist's side, with goals from Lewis MacLeod and trialist Nicky Clark seeing the Gers make it four wins from four.

Fresh from their dramatic 5-4 win last week, Dunfermline secured three points against Stranraer despite Martin Grehan firing the visitors into an early lead. Goals from Adam Geggan, Luke Johnston and Allan Smith ensured that the Pars' quest for promotion stays on track.

Stenhousemuir bounced back from that 5-4 defeat against Dunfermline by beating Forfar Athletic 2-1 thanks to two goals in as many minutes from Sean Higgins and Darren Smith, a result that sees the Forth Valley outfit go within three points of Rangers.

Ayr United drew 2-2 with struggling Airdrieonians despite two goals from Michael Moffat, while Arbroath bounced from defeat last week, beating Brechin City as Lee Erwin bagging a brace.

Results in full: Arbroath 2-1 Brechin City, Ayr Utd 2-2 Airdrieonians, Dunfermline 3-1 Stranraer, Forfar Ath 1-2 Stenhousemuir, Rangers 5-0 East Fife
