Rangers fans settle Dunfermline debt

The Rangers Fans Fighting Fund has raised £250,000 to help the struggling club pay off debts they owe to fellow Scottish side Dunfermline.

A fee of £22,000 was left outstanding after Rangers failed to reimburse the Pars with around £85,000, following the Scottish Premier League game between the two clubs at East End Park on February 11.

However, the supporters responsible for the fundraising, who branded the payment as "a debt of honour to a club of honour", have refused to pay debts owed to Dundee United.

"Consideration was also given to using some more of the funds to pay off money owed to Dundee United," said RFFF chairman Andrew McCormick.

"But that was rejected as there were strong views that, in recent times, Dundee United had treated Rangers and their fans with disdain.

"Rangers fans were angry when Dundee United levied an extra charge on Rangers ticket holders if they wished to attend an abandoned game at Tannadice."

On the pitch, Rangers prevented fierce rivals Celtic from wrapping up the SPL title on Sunday with a 3-2 win at Ibrox.
