Rangers' Helander to miss rest of season, Bassey, Jack fit to face Braga

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed that defender Filip Helander will miss the rest of the season due to injury.

The 28-year-old Swedish international limped off in the 4-0 win at St Mirren on Sunday with a foot problem, and he will now play no further part this campaign.

Van Bronckhorst was, however, able to provide a positive update on Rangers trio Calvin Bassey, Ryan Jack and John Lundstram, with the latter to be assessed ahead of the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final with Braga on Thursday, after picking up a minor groin strain last weekend.

"Lundstram was is training today so hopefully available for tomorrow," the Dutchman told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday.

"Filip [Helander] injury is not good, we won't have him for the remainder of the season. Both Bassey and Jack are available."

Rangers will also be without top scorer Alfredo Morelos, who will miss the rest of the season after undergoing thigh surgery at the beginning of this month.

The Scottish Premiership champions will be looking to overturn a one-goal deficit from the first leg when they welcome the Portuguese outfit to Ibrox.
