Report: Ferdinand to undergo QPR medical

Rio Ferdinand's proposed move to Queens Park Rangers is reportedly edging closer to completion.

Manager Harry Redknapp has been open about his desire to sign the centre-back on a free transfer after he left Manchester United at the end of last season following a 12-year spell at Old Trafford.

The 35-year-old worked as a BBC pundit during the World Cup in Brazil, but has now returned to the UK and is expected to undergo a medical with QPR today, according to Sky Sports News.

Previous reports claimed that the QPR board were against signing Ferdinand due to his wage demands, but it appears that Redknapp is poised to seal his target.

Ferdinand, who is expected to sign a one-year contract, was handed his senior debut by Redknapp during his time at West Ham United.
